    Hello all.
I bought a couple of leeks in the supermarket. I saved the end part to regrow. Right now, I have them in water, but want to change them to soil (in containers).

The only soil I have available right now is specific for seedlings and herbs. I also have some compost made from the grass of the garden, but I'm not sure about the quality.

Will that work with the leeks?

    Thanks

Not sure what you are trying to do?
I usually grow leeks from seed.

Yes. I know that it's how it's usually done.
But I'm just starting to grow some vegetables.
And found that spring onions (or green onions) and leeks can be regrown from the scraps.
That's what I'm doing with the leeks. And it is working, but works better and for longer in soil.
I'm just not sure if seed specific soil (maybe mixed with some compost) will work for grown leeks.
It will also be done in containers because, right now, I don't have much space.

Most things will grow in seed compost for a while.
It's mostly down to how much fertiliser the compost contains, seed compost contain very little, so if you feed well once rooted you can overcome the lack of fertiliser to some extent.
