Soil from old pots

I have massive pots want to paint them mean while what to do with its soil can I use it for leveling garden and can I use it mixed with new compost to sow new seeds but on the ground and fill the pots with new compost?

 

I put my old compost in the compost bin along with the usual stuff.

Well, as I use the old compost from pots on my borders and hoe it in ... plus direct sow appropriate seeds into those beds ... the answer must be ... yes
Definitely fresh compost in the newly painted pots

 

I put old compost on the flower beds. The fertility is gone but the organic matter will be worked in by the worms and improve soil structure.
