One of the plans in my garden is to raise up the borders - was thinking of using sleepers or some other kind of treated wood and just wanted to know what would be the best soil to order? The soil here is quite clay-y so I want to improve and add to it so my plants do their best. Thanks

For my 2p worth, depending on the volume you're talking about of course, I'd just get a load of 'normal' topsoil (as per Ziggy above) and then enrich it with a load of well rotted horse poo (though I do own a horse, so I guess that's kind of, er, cheating :))

    another site with good topsoil:
    British Sugar

or depending how much you need, you may find that it works out cheaper buying big bags of John Innes #3

some garden centres sell 3 large bags for a tenner at certain times of the year
