you can buy it in 3" pots from garden centres for not much money ie 99p. You can split this into 3 or 4 bits and it spreads like stink - but is more attractive thankfully. Hope this helps...

Aaah! What fond memories that brings, doesn't it jjordie! Our gran had a covered walkway to what was once her outside loo but then unused. But the walkway was covered with a glass roof and wall and had original garden encompassed within. It was covered with MYOB and looked really lovely, Ideal conditions, y'see!

However, I have tried and tried to grow it and it manages for a few months and then just dries up and dies. Some say I keep it too dry, others that I'm overwatering it.... just can't seem to win. But I give anything to have a carpet of it like my dear ol' gran!

I wish mine did. I inherited two small plants in a so called rockery - and it has spread to all kinds of places - shrugs off roundup. Manual removal only just keeps it in bounds. Pretty ground cover in spring and summer, brown and dead in winter, but if I ever have another garden, that is one plant I will not be accomodating.
