Wayne - can't see your pics at present - I think there are some problems with the system. But mine are still a long way away from flowering - though I do see some buds.

Victoria - lovely. I grew several Brugs from seed last year. I had a good reliable yellow one but wanted some pinks. I noticed several that started out as yellow then turned to apricot, then pure pink. I know that B. versicolor changes colour (hence its name). Is changing colour normal, or do ones that change colour imply that they have versicolour in their genes? This is a question as much for Wayne or Alan (if he's about).

        :) Good morning Peter

I think there are problems with photos that have been uploaded through GC but PB ones come out fine.

I have never had this particular plant change colour before. By the way, I have altered my above post as for some reason two of the peachy colour came out rather than one white and one peach ... strange I did not see that when I previewed before posting! :oopss::hate-shocked::scratch: Both of mine are doing exceptionally well now, the yellow one having over 20 blooms already, the pink only three, but I do have to water at least twice a day as they wither so quickly. Just did that and must feed them tonight.

        Hello Everyone,

I must admit I'm not too clued up on the Versicolors, as I know they need alot of heat to well. Brilliant for Victoria, though:SUNsmile:

A friend of mine has a Brug which turns from white, to yellow, to bright pink, like a Tutti Fruitti. This plant displays both colours of the parents, yellow and pink, and looks great when in various stages of flower.

Last night was quite humid and stormy feeling, and the scent of the Brugmansia really hung in the air. I sat on the step, zonked out by the smell. It it's expenisive getting these buggers through the winter, but it's worth it to have flowers in May to September.

Wayne - you mentioned B. versicolour needing a lot of heat. One question that interests me is what is the difference between the cool group (Sphaerocarpium) and the others. Is it that the cool group really flower better in Britain's cooler weather, or is that the cool group just interbreed between themselves and not with the others? What is the significance of the distinction?

        Hello there,
I am having a bit of a mare posting at the moment..thought I'd responded earlier.
Anyways, the Sphaero's ( lazy way) prefer being shielding from the fierce morning sun. Good old dappled shade as Sir Alan Titchmarsh would say is what it enjoys, afternoon sun is ok too. I need to get Alan to answer your question about the cold species. My penny worth is that the cold group are easier to cross breed, because the seed ripen quicker than the warm species, which is very useful in our cool climate.

Hi everyone, Im new to this site and a wee bit lost at the mo so if im a bit dizzy it will explain why.:). Ive come on this thread because ive got a brug cutting this year and im cossetting it like a newborn. His name is Bertie and he is about 1ft tall :dancy:. Ive been googling around looking to find how to care for him but im a tad confused. Some say they dont like too much sun, others say they cant get enought of it. And im not sure how often i should be feeding him. The pics of the brugs on here are gorgeous, so im sure someone can put me in the right direction. I would really appreciate some info on them :love30:. Many thanks
