OK I might be controversial here but as a dairy and meat eater there's a good and valid argument that if people didn't eat beef or drink milk then cows simply wouldn't exist in the first place as there's no place for them without the demand for meat and dairy unless of course you want something to just keep the grass down. Therefore if we stopped eating beef and drinking cows milk these animals wouldn't have a life at all as they simply wouldn't exist as they serve no purpose in the wild. They are neither predators or prey. If we took cows out of our food chain what purpose would we have to keep them?

So, do we allow them to have some quality of life in order to serve a purpose to our food chain or deny them any existence at all and simply become extinct?

As I understand it, the cows calve, and produce milk, the calves go for Veal

Later as life progresses, the cows stop giving milk and go to the half time Pies at the football
and the two year old remaining calves become the milk cows, and so on

As for myself I confess, I drink a pint of Jersey Full cream milk each day, quite enjoy the odd Pie, along with a nice cut of Veal,
Cow meat is not good for steaks (just pie meat) so Steaks come from Aberdeen Angus, when I can afford it, usually only once a week

I enjoy the offal as well, as in tripe, only it is difficult to obtain in Scotland, they only do the cheap Blanket tripe, I much prefer the Honeycomb tripe, but it is impossible to get up here
          I also enjoy Cow heel
Both cow heel and tripe, I eat as it comes (basically processed as in bleached and clean) with some salt and vinegar,
I never cook the tripe, as in milk and onions, I can not stand that
Oh I forgot Cows Udder, delicious
In Spain I quite enjoy other unmentionable bits

Then there are my shoes and jackets, followed by Lights for the dogs when I had them
