I was having a clear out of memory sticks, online storage etc and I came across a few photos that I had forgotten about. This gave me the idea to start a thread showing off my better photos/portraits.

No photo editing beyond cropping and possibly the odd exposure tweak.

Trollius chinensis. There are a couple of issues with shadow and glare, and the stem is still visible (cropped any more to lose the stem and the photo looks wrong), but a nice enough shot.............

Dicentra. Taken as I was getting to grips with a DSLR, I liked the composition and background...............

Digitalis lunata. Another early photo that came together pretty well.................

Tricyrtis hirta. This was an attempt at macro photography without a macro lens. To highlight the glands on the reproductive organs required flash which created issues with shadow. Not a bad result with basic equipment.............

Tradescantia. I cut the stem off the plant and positioned the subject and camera in such a way that the background was a room lacking in natural light. The white subject required settings that removed any detail in the background, aided also by a shortish focal length...........

Salvia patens. I remember this. Several different exposures were taken before I decided on this shot with its slightly overexposed background. Good light picked out detail and texture in the subject.....................

Cornflowers are good subjects and this was just a quick snap that worked.................

    Lotus berthelottii...................

Tibouchina. Once the petals are gone the somewhat alien reproductive organs remain..................

    Gloxinia....................

There are more, but this is getting a bit long!

Beautiful photos @longk and, as you say, some that look truly not of this world.

Post more for me, I could keep on looking :spinning::love30:

        Thank you ladies!

Such a plain flower but they are wonderful subjects for the camera!

I will. Might be a week or two if I start the living room floor tomorrow though.

            Thanks Peter!

            A couple more;
Echeveria setosa minor. The bold colours of Echeveria make great subjects..............

            Echinops...............
