I was in the Garden last week working for a couple of hours doing odd jobs, when I decided to have a wee seat and a glass of Beer.
As I was sitting on the decking area I noticed a Wasp gripped onto the back of a large Crane Fly which was on the decking area.
The Wasp was chewing through the back of the live Crane Fly , and did eventually chew the Crane Fly into two parts.
The front of the Crane Fly dragged itself along the decking and eventually died.
I have never seen this before and did not have a camera for photographs.

Has anyone else encountered this scene in the Garden?..

Never heard of anything like it.

I did watch a spider trap a young wasp in the greenhouse the other day, and cocoon it up in a ball of web until it died/gave up -- never heard a wasp make a noise like it, the highest pitch buzz I have heard.

Surprising that they managed to find wasps to munch this year - I've hardly seen any! (not that I am complaining!)

I've seen similar but with a caterpillar. Wasp just chomped straight through the neck area and that was that!

I've seen far too many hornets in my garden than I'm happy with this year Zigs... :th scifD36:
