Something is eating my Geranium

Hello everyone - I am a bit worried about one of my Geraniums. I have many in my garden and all are doing fine - except one that my brother gave me at the end of last season. I know that slugs don't like them but something is difinately tucking into this one. So much so that i have had to take it out of the ground and put it in a pot to try to protect it. I have rumaged thru the surrounding soil and found no grubs or insects - any one got any ideas please?

 

Are you talking Geraniums,as cranesbil type or Pelagonium? as last year I started of with a fantastic show of pelargonium type that were devoured by caterpillars little green blighters which were very difficult to spot,So this year decided to give them a miss.

 

No, they're the crane's bill. I'm not sure what variety it is, but my brother tells me it's the blue type. I was hoping it was gonna be Johnson's Blue, there are some buds on the plant (Not many leaves) so I should be able to tell soon what variety it is.

 

Larvae of the geranium sawfly eat small round holes in the foliage, but the damage is slight and never a problem worth treating. Vine weevil grubs will eat geranium roots and sometimes kill the plant, but that is only a problem when grown in pots. Very strange. Odd that it is just one plant that is affected. I would play safe and get rid of it as it could be a disease or something lurking in the roots

 

Thanks guys, I think I'll hold onto it but keep it isolated from everything else and see what happens.
