Any tips? I currently have sore ankles. If you Google 'sore ankles', all the articles are alarmist, concluding anything from arthritis to a life threatening blood infection.

My sore ankles are sore simply because of fatigue. Oh, and a bruise on one side.

I can walk normally, it doesn't hurt much, just sore. Any tips on soothing sore ankles and speeding their recovery?

Stop kicking things would be a start, you can't go around doing kung foo and not get sore ankles.

      Heat or cold!

..I know that's kind of conflicting advice, but I guess it depends on the source of the pain and how your ankles respond to both. I have an intermittently painful right ankle (which I have suspicions of being arthritisy but keep not going to the doc about :th scifD36:), and heat is what works for me. Wheat pack in the microwave, hot water bottle, luxuriate in the bath, etc.
But if cooling it down feels better, maybe a cool footbath or some kind of "refreshing" spray that cools would be helpful!

I haven't really been kicking much. Mostly thin air. I'd say about 80% of our kicks during training are simply to the air in front of us, then about 19.5% against soft targets like pads or each other, with the latter being limited force so we don't break each other. A tiny fraction would be against breaking boards. These have to be full force or the board won't break and will instead simply make a dull thud noise which is vastly disappointing compared to the loud crack followed by the tinkle of the pieces falling to the floor. I've done 4 boards in the last 3 months, all of them in the last few days, the most recent just yesterday.

Far more than kicking things, in the normal generic cardio fitness part of training, we do loads of star jumps and running etc. All bare foot. I've had reason to train more frequently than normal over the last few weeks, and I think it's just this that's fatigued my ankles.

              Sounds good to me :)

I actually have some lotion that contains menthol. I hadn't thought of that. I'll give that a go while I'm waiting for you and you foot spa :)
