Been keeping (and breeding) tropical fish on and off for the past 30 years.
And over that period of time have hads loads of different "themes": General tropicals, Malawi Cichlids, Tangs, SA and CA Cichlids, Discus, Oddballs etc.

Last week got my "Holy Grail"

    A South American Lungfish.
It is in my display tank with some other South American Cichlids.

Is a gentle giant. Swims around slowly or rests behind one of the pieces of wood.

I have redone the tank since I fish got him.
He kept pushing the bits of wood over.
So I had to get some big, heavier pieces. He still seems to be able to move them somehow!

          My Mrs doesn't think so.
She keeps telling me it's the ugliest fish I have ever kept!

Knife fish and Butterfly fish were the more unusual ones I have kept in the past.
How long before it outgrows the tank? or will the size of the tank will govern it's growth.
Are they Platys in the background? I was wondering if it could slowly glide up and swallow one!
Does it come up for air?

I have had Knife fish (black ghost and a tiger) and a butterfly fish in the past.

It's 2 1/2 ft or so. At this stage it's growth rate will be slow. I have read they can get up to 4 ft, but I think it will be a long time before/if it gets to that size.

Yes, the Mollies were my daughters choice
There are some Severums and Angels too.
African lungfish have to be kept on their own. But SAL are ok with other fish, and mine seems to be ok so far.

Yes, it comes up every 10-15 mins for air.
          You can hear it inhaling.
