Just bought some sweet peas to sow now, I have a greenhouse but do not intend to heat it until towards the end of Feb, so how do I go about sowing the peas? put them in a heated seed tray then once they have emerged are they safe in an unheated house?

If my experience is anything to go by - plant the seeds now in pots that are quite deep or tubes - to avoid root disturbance when planting. Don't use heat - but put them in the lightest part of the greenhouse that gets the most sun.

If your gonna grow them in containers - then plant them directly in the containers - but leave them in as light a position as possible.

i don't soak my peas but its one of those age old practices passed on through the years, i don't think that with modern seeds its really necessary. about the pot thing use biodegradable pots/peat pots as these can be planted straight into the ground when your ready to plant out meaning no chance of root disturbance.
