I am new to all this so please be kind in your responses!!!!

I have been growing seeds since Feb time and broccoli was one of the more recent. Anyway - I am making plans as to where I will plant out various crops when the time is right. When reading up on bits and pieces it says 2ft apart for broccoli. I though one plant = one head of broccoli - how big a head of broccoli am I growing??!?!?!

Can understand BNS, cucumber, courgette as the grow multiple items from one plant.

    What am i missing?

After the main head of broccoli has been harvested the plant then goes on to produce more (smaller) heads on side shoots. Although I take spacing with a large pinch of salt. It's a case of suck it and see.

    Cheers, Tony.

Ahhhhh - I like your approach and will adopt a similar one. So quick question - if you had 4 broccoli plants you would get than just 4 heads of broccoli? How much space would they need then? Dont have an unlimited amount.

Depends on the type of broccoli. I grow purple sprouting broccoli (see picture below). These need to be 18 to 24 inches apart as they make large plants and crop continuously for 3-4 weeks.

Calabrese produces one main head per plant and then as Tony said some smaller ones, but the spacing would be similar.
By the way what are BNS.
