    GARDEN OPEN

    In aid of

    GROVE COTTAGE
    (Bishops Stortford MENCAP charity)

ON THE LAST WEEKEND IN MAY - 26TH & 27TH

    OPEN TIMES

    SATURDAY 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

    SUNDAY 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Building on the previous year's very successful opening (the charity eventually got over £4,000)
Mr And Mrs Shiney invite you to enjoy a walk around their garden
and relax over some homemade cakes and a cup of tea or coffee
There will be the usual large amount of plants for sale
A book stall with many almost new best sellers
Although we don't have the wonderful Zara Fox singing this year
we do have the Las Palomas Flamenco Dancers with us

ENTRY DONATION £1 - TEA WITH CAKE £1.50

FLAMENCO ON SATURDAY 11.30 and 3.00

BOOK STALL - PLANT SALE - RAFFLE

As usual I shall be giving a private tour to GC members at 11.30 on Saturday and you are then welcome to join Mrs shiney and myself for a sandwich and a cuppa. If you are unable to make it for that time then you will still be most welcome any other time - but you'll miss meeting the other members.

We are half way between junctions 7 and 8 on the M11 (15 minutes from both) and 15-20 minute from Hertford and Chelmsford. For those of you flying in to Stansted we are 15 minutes from there as well :heehee:.

PM me for detailed driving instructions.

This is the link to a preview I put on GC four years ago

And a link to last 2010's invite and comments by some who came along

For those of you that come for your regular greeting and cuddle by The Boss he is, sadly, no longer with us :cry3: so there will be no CAT scan on arival.

His story can be viewed on GC Pet The Rainbow Garden

      http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/threads/the-gc-pet-rainbow-garden.35942/

Those of you that will be staying until late, or overnight in the area are most welcome to join us at the local Indian restaurant for dinner. This is an annual tradition on both Saturday and Sunday nights where helpers and friends get together. We have been fortunate enough to have some GC members join us in the past and look forward to doing so, again, this year. :dbgrtmb:

We would love to visit Shiney but the distance ...
Had thought of flying from Bournemouth with a parachute drop in but that wouldn't go down well with Inhouse Adviser!:rolleyespink:
pity I couldn't supplement your Geranium sales again but those days are gone now.

Thanks, Strongy, we understand . IA's can be a bit of a spoilsport at times :heehee:

We've appreciated your geranium contributions over the years :dbgrtmb:. This year Mrs Shiney has decided not to do bedding plants, annuals, hanging baskets etc and concentrate on the rest (although a few people have already dropped off their baskets to us )

We're going to be visiting some cousins of ours in Bournemouth in a few weeks time so shall wave to you :snork:.

The mods always end up fighting when we get together. Especially if theres drink involved.

I'll be there ... great way to get rid of all my left-overs from over enthusiastic seed sowing - this year I've potted them up rather than just bringing a seedtray which had been "overgrown" for a month like last year :)

Great!!! I can add that to the entertainment programme. :dbgrtmb:

I could even run a book on who will win each round and it will raise even more money for the charity. :hapydancsmil:

Info for those who haven't been before:-
Some of our members also use it as an opportunity to have a plant swap :dbgrtmb:

I am going to make a massive effort to come on the Saturday for the meet up. I will probably have to do a lot of arguing with hubby to get him to agree to it so I will get started on that tonight.

It would be lovely to see you. Will it help if you told him I was born only 20 minutes from you - just outside Matlock? :)

It takes me about 2 hours to drive to Derby from here (M1 - A14 - M11). You could even stay for the Indian restaurant and get home before your chariot gets turned into a pumpkin. :heehee:

I may look at getting a room for the night. We don't go many places and with the cats never stay anywhere very long but they should be ok overnight. I will let you know when I win the argument!

I'll have just come back from two weeks holiday, Shiney, so I should be be able to make it. Could I beg you for a repeat of the bed and breakfast info you sent me as I seem to have misplaced it. I'd like to drive up on the Friday and drive home on the Sunday. A Post Code to stick in my SatNav would be a great help:snork: Us Mods only fight when there's a disagreement as to who's round it is.:gaah:
