    Hi All.
Went to the local Garden Centre Group (Wyevale) store today as they are doing a special offer I think until the end of Feb.5 bags of J.Arther Bowers (56L) Multi Purpose Compost for £15!! Normally £24.95 a saving of £9.95 over the 5 bags.
While I was there I also noticed they had an offer on 40L Flexi Tubs.Normally £7.99 each but you get 2 for the price of one. That works out cheaper than the Wicks tub and I also got it in dark green rather than the what looks like on their site (wicks) the Lime green.A good start for the spuds.

Bought J A Bowers 2/3 years back never again. Full of large bits that are only good for mulching.

Hi Trevor. We normally for the past few years have used Wicks like most do but last year we were given vouchers for our garden centre so tried J.Bowers.You are right it is woody and did dry out quicker than the normal peat based compost.
We had some home grown compost but not a lot so we divided it between the bags.As we mixed it in we also put in crystals to help.As you can see from photos everything grew ok.
I suppose until the manufacturers get the peat free right we will have to put up with crud in the bags,I think JB is reduced peat but do not say how much,I bet your boots it is about a cupful to each bag.
