What spinach varieties do people recommend? It's one of my favourite veggies but it never seems to grow as well in my garden as I would like. I have to sow it pretty early as it starts to get hot here from about the end of May. I tried a winter variety last year with zero germination results - both outdoors and indoors. Any suggestions? :please:

You could try perpetual spinach (spinach beet) or Swiss chard, both of which are easier that true spinach.

If you stick with true spinach, try sowing it a semi-shaded part of the garden.

Thanks Alex, I might give the spinach beet a try. The problem is, there isn't much shade in our garden as it's south facing. I sowed ruby chard last autumn which has been producing all through the winter, and has just surfaced from under a thick layer of snow, but no sign of the spinach, which I sowed at the same time. :cry3:
