B&Q have a few tight now.

One that caught my eye was

10 lilly of the valley £2.49

Not too sure if 3 lavender for a fiver was a great price or not though?

Lily of the Valley is the only thing I've found growing happily under a dense Yew  Very invasive and persistent. Grow in a pot or container and never turn your back on it for a moment or it'll be off!

    It isn't!

For the price of a packet of seed you could have a small lavender hedge next summer (2007). And you could even sell your unwanted plants to friends for 50p each. They are easily grown from seed.
'Her Indoors' loves Lily of the Valley. I keep digging it up and putting the rhizomes in the bin!

fair point about growing lavender from seeds - kinda wanting some impact this summer though.

lavender / time / rosemary along a short 6 footish open part of a south facing wall.
