Spotted in the park.

I'm sure you will all scream at me this one, but it's not a shrub I know, some yellow leaves but that might be normal, but it looks evergreen to me.

 

Sweet box (Sarcococca), maybe?

 

Daphne? Not a plant I am familiar with but maybe the big one bholua one

 

I'm thinking Daphne as well.

 

I'm thinking it would help to know how tall it was

 

About 4 ft.
But probably not fully grown.

 

For some reason Daphne was my thought when I saw it but I've never grown one or taken much notice of them.

 

I've grown D. Bholua..the size sounds about right. A bit tall for Sarcococca and aren't the stems reddish on that? You certainly have posh planting in your local park!

 

OK just another I spotted today under a chestnut tree.
It's really weird if it is what I'm thinking.
Any thoughts.

Avocado?

I saw a newsclip on BBC/ITV last year of one growing on a bit of scrubland in London.
It was well sheltered by other stuff growing around it, but it was in the front and had about 15 avocados on it!!

Yes @Pete8 exactly my thinking, it looks like first year so I dont think it will make it through the winter, but I will keep an eye on it.

The one I saw on the telly a while ago was only about 6ft and growing amongst other random shrubby plants close to an urban roadside footpath and it had many decent-sized fruits on it
