    Hi all
Anyone find Spray 'n' Grow any good? A friend brought me some from QVC but its a bit of a palaver following the instructions..wait 15 mins, wait till its yellow tinged etc. Is it worth the trouble?

I have some but, as you say, it's a bit of a palaver so I'm afraid it's where it's going to do my plants a power of no good - still in the cupboard!

I saw that on QVC and wondered how efficient it would be feeding a large border!!! I guess its OK for houseplants providing the wife doesnt mind the staining on the curtains.

For something that really works look at www.superspray.co.uk this is a hose end sprayer that you can use with any liquid feed. Not only that but by adding jeyes you can disinfect the greenhouse, or detregnt for washing the glass. Use car shampoo and wash the car too. Really useful and practical to use.

This is a re-hash of the srayers which were sold by Miracle Grow and Phostrogen a few years ago. Just a different shape. I've still got two in the shed, don't use them as I feel they waste a lot of water. I prefer to use a can and concentrate the water and feed to the plant.

I purchased some miacle grow liquafeed in two refill bottles the npk formula of 12:4:8 was what I needed, it was said it was for foliar and root feed ok up to now , reading all the small print there was no dilution rate apparently you initially have to purchase the spraygun and attach these refills and by some miracle it sprays the right dilution on to your crops. I e-mailed them to ask what the dilution rate was as surely the water pressure must cause a variation in the dilution also I wanted to be able to control the strength of feed but they said they didn't know, looks like it's just a gimick to sell the whole kit.

I'm sure all the farmers out there are rushing to buy "Spray and grow" to boost their crops. :D

But anyway, "Foliar feeding", all the rage a few years back, seems to have died a bit of a death recently.
    Phostrogen was always promoting it.

I bought it three years ago and fed 3 hanging baskets with it and one without. Absolutely no difference was a complete waste of money......

For those of us who believe that foliar feeding works and especially when feeding Lawns or indeed somewhat disabled and cant carry heavy buckets or watering cans about the place, a hose end sprayer is invaluable.
The Superspray that I have accuratley dilutes the feed on discharge which Miraclegrow has only just introduced with their new model. Superpsray can be used with ANY liquid feed so your not locked in to buying someones feed to suit the sprayer. The superspray is designed to discharge at the rate equivalent to 5 litres mixed feed per 100ml graduation of a predilution so if the product says add one cap to a wateing can, then add one cap to the bottle and fill to 100ml mark with water. it holds equiv of 30l of feed. plus you can use it with car shampoo to washthe car with or the windows. I can say that this sprayer is not a gimmick. My neigbour washes his caravan with one of these. If you apply at the given rate you use no more than a watering can.

Vegman the miaclegrow doesn't quite work like the way you describe, the refill bottles you use are a concentrate you screw into the spray head you have no control over the mix, the water pressure determines the rate of flow and the venturi action of the water pulls the solution into the flow all I require is the dilution strength if it was as easy as one cap full per 100 ml I wouldn't have a problem, I agree it's a good system for the reasons you mention but I need to be more specific with my feed.

    Hello Walnut,

I was describing how the Superspray works not the Miracle gro. The Superspray will allow you to use ANY liquid feed at a strength recommended by the maker or to suit your own specific needs. Ive used Maxicrop complete feed that recommeds 10ml per 5 litres. with superspray for a maximum mix equiv to 30 litres of feed you would add 6 x 10ml = 60ml and fill
the bottle up to 600ml mark with water.

For the Lawn Ive used Lawn Magic which you would add 600ml of concentrate and spray over 60sq.m.

Once known that making a predilute in the bottle eg 10ml and fill to 100ml etc once that has been discharged from the bottle then 5 litres of mix feed has been applied, you can make your own feed strength.

The Miraclegro sprayer as you know, is a means to make you buy their feed and its a one system for all which eliminates the special needs some of us gardeners have. I have also read on another forum that this unit doesnt spray very far and tale ages to water a border.

have a look at www.superspray.co.uk and see if its worth a go. Ive checked the price just now at £8.99 plus p&p you can use it to wwqsh the car with too.
    Regards,

Superspray looks good vegman, just a bit miffed that miracle grow don't print any info on their packs it's crafty marketing as you say to force you to buy their spray,I wouldn't buy one of their sprays now on principle.
