    Hi,

This might be a stupid question. When starting fresh in a garden, can you plant spring and summer bulbs in the same area, but do you need to plant them at different levels if you plan to leave them in?

Before you ask, I haven't decided which bulbs yet.

    Hi Clum,

Yes you can, but until we know the varieties of bulbs it's hard to say about planting depth and distances etc.

Fir a quick example we have a large pot which has Lilies planted near the bottom ( around 10" deep ), then Narcissi ( around 6" deep ) and then Crocus on the top ( around 1" deep ).

      Hi @Anthony Rogers

Thanks for your reply. My idea is to create a cottage garden once the raised beds have been built, which are taking ages due to the bad weather. Anyway, bulbs you could say are Allium, Lilies, Gladioli, Tulips, Daffs, etc. etc. But I am looking at the different varieties there is, so I haven't decided. Hope this helps.

Yeah, they seem alright to me for doing multi-layered planting.

If you're doing a cottage style that's even better as you can plant plants above the bulbs ar normal soil level, this will help hide the leaves as they're dying off and also provide a nice contrast in the style of flowers and foliage you grow.
