spring baskets

    today i was cleaning up spring baskets,
    renewing some polyanthus,took some old ones out,and found some little white grubby looking things in among the roots of my tulips and dafs
    is there anything i can water in or do i have to lift everything out?.i dont realy want to disturb
    the spring bulbs too much thanks

    Little white grubs - sound to me like vive weevil grubs - and they love polyanthus. they eat the roots of plants before becoming adult vine weevils, which eat the leaves.

    If you don't want to disturb you bulbs, then a drench of Provado should do the trick. Its still a little cold for the nematodes. However you may find that by tipping the basket out, you can pick them out without disturbing the bulbs too much.
