Osmanthus delavayi......it's a "must have", for me, Spring flowering shrub. In the warm Sunshine of yesterday I could smell the sweet heavenly scent over 20 yards away.

I planted these Tulips over 10 years ago and they still keep coming.

Simple, but one of my favourites, Forget-me-Nots

The Clematis Armandii I planted against the Acer Brilliantissimum two years ago seems to be liking it there.[IMG]

My old Frog in the Boat is around 20 years old and has lost his original paint but now grows a Moss Green Jacket every year.

Love the higgledy piggledyness of your garden Armandii. I sniffed some Clematis Armandii in a friend's garden this afternoon and I thought of you...:imphrt:,

Your garden's looking good Armandii. :dbgrtmb: What sort of height does the other Armandii reach please? :)

It's taken a lot of work and time to get the garden looking higgledy piggledy, Jenny.:heehee: I fell in love with Cottage style gardens, as did my Wife, back in the 80's when visiting some of the Big House gardens in this area. As you know I call the style "organised chaos" and because the borders are full of hardy perennials, some Roses, and several layers of different kinds of bulbs underneath them I can allow the garden to run itself, with the occasional intervention with the secateurs when there's a plant being overshadowed. I'm not in favour of formal styles although there are some beautiful ones around as I never feel relaxed in them whereas I can sit anywhere in the "Retreat" and feel at peace.:coffee::snork:

Hi Sheal, well, the Acer Brilliantissimum is over 25 years old and is slow growing, so at the moment it is around 10' to 12' with the Clematis Armandii getting to the top and has reached all sides of the tree and is now starting to make "enquiries" with the Conifer next to it. I've also planted another Clematis Montana on the other side of the trunk this Spring in order to get more colour later in the year.:coffee::snork:

Thank you Armandii, it would look good growing across my back fence but with thoughts of moving house in the not to distant future, I'm dithering whether to bother buying anything new for the garden. It seems pointless especially when I won't see it develop. :doh:It's a heart and head battle!

That's a possibility, we'll see what a new garden brings with it. :)
