Was watching the first episode of this years Springwatch on Monday.

Without warning, when Simon King was showing the footage of the Osprey's , Boobtube launched herself from being fast asleep on my feet (as I had thought...) to the bottom of the telly! Boob is profoundly deaf so it must have been the visuals alone which were enough for her - unless the osprey squawks were also transmitting on some hitherto unheard of frequency for boobs ears.

Just had time to grab the camera to get these shots!

:) I am just sorry I missed getting the osprey reaction on camera - she was up on her hind legs pawing the screen ....

She has honestly NEVER ever taken any interest in the TV until now - a first in our household!

She'd take a look at the screen, sit there a while, wander back to the couch and within seconds would be back under the telly again.

Sad thing is, Booby in her silent world has never taken any active interest in wildlife and has NEVER caught a mouse or a bird and only runs out to do her business and runs back in again. Springwatch has opened a whole new world of delights to her!

Bill Oddie doesn't like cats though, so I daren't send these pics into the Springwatch website.... :o

Don't know why they don't make this an all year round daily programme, (or at least 4 times a week) I first caught Autumn watch last year while on holiday (no decent internet connection so had to watch something [IMG]).

For me a channel showing "anytimewatch", Coast and a few similar programmes might just drag me away from the computer occasionally.

I agree - even a once a week compilation of a bunch of wildlife filmed stories from around the country, in the same vein as Springwatch, throughout the year, would keep me very happy. Countryfile just doesn't have quite the same appeal for me.

I laughed at the Romeo and Juliet parody of the life of Stag Beetles last night!

    :D

The recent Nat Trust magazine lists Bill Oddie's favourite place as Brownsea Island, wish they'd do a late Autumn/Winter programme from there when all the waders, ducks, geese and sea birds congregate, the lagoon is wall to wall birds.

    Thanks Kandy!

I had a little look at your link yesterday but I was having trouble getting the live link to come up on my screeen for some reason - will get Mr Cookie to have a look and sort it later. But watching Birds of Prey is very addictive and I spend enough time on the computer as it is! I'll check out your other links too. Thanks for posting them Kandy. Fascinating stuff!

That Osprey slomo sequence was fantastic tonight, hope they do a replay later in the series.

Never seen live lampreys before either, wasn't there the death of a a king or some other dignitary reported as due to "a surfeit of lampreys" some hundreds of years ago?

Was a fan of springwatch but that odious little man bill oddy and his giggling incompetent side kick kate mumble spoil it only one professional Simon King is worth watching, looking at all the paraphenalia the crew need setting this up to bring these often intimate pictures to us makes me wonder how much damage they do to the wildlife in the area.
