Now I've got my pint sized allotment, thought I'd give a row or two of earlies a bash. I've only ever grown maincrop before, Cara, Maris Piper and Desiree (ooops, my unknown variety from our friends in Wales too) .

Now here's when you lot come in handy :) What "earlies" should I try? We do like new potatoes and mash BUT I love my chips, hence the Maris P and Cara maincrop and as I'm doing all the work, I want to benefit from my hard graft, suggestions please

For first earlies, I'd recommend Arran Pilot. Ever reliable, great flavour when used as new potatoes, they've never let me down.
Second earlies, try Kestrel. Good reliable cropper, large tubers, good for roasting and baking.
OH does not do chips, too 'unhealthy' apparently, so I'm afraid I can't advise on the suitability of either for chip making.
