    Nice pictures.

    We've always liked squirrels.
In suburban areas, they don't eat birds eggs, they prefer peanuts and "everybody feeds them."
We feed "ours" and the birds, they all feed within a couple of feet of each other and there's never any fall-out as they have separate food in different trays.

If there's no nuts out for them they come and beg at the french windows.
My wife always opens the doors slowly so as not to frighten them. On one occasion a squirrel "helped" her open the door by "pulling" it with its paw.

When the kids were small they found an abandoned one in the street and brought it home. It would fit in the palm of your hand. There was no point in trying to return it to the wild. It wouldn't have survived, so it became a household pet. It was actually "housetrained" and used a tray for its toilet. Of an evening it would curl up on anyone's lap. They use their tail as a blanket. If you moved it to see if it was asleep. It would get hold of it and put it back over its head. She had a diet of peanuts and sunflower seeds, but she loved ice cream and "dog chocalate drops."

Here she is, with our eldest son. She was a bit wary of the Evening News photographer and his big camera.

    Hi Woo,
They are beautiful photos:) Your love of all creatures comes through in all your photography. I know some people call them tree rats but I like them too. I am too soft I guess as I don't like any animal being killed. They don't cause any bother here at all. They were lovely to watch in Greenwich park.
That's a lovely story Doghouse. I bet your son was pleased to be famous! :gnthb:

I just love the squirrels, some people think they are vermin.... Well I like rats and spiders too, we all have a place on this earth or we wouldnt be here.
My local park which is in a stones throw from where I live was full of squirrels untill the council decided to cull them :( But some survived and parents bringing their children on the weekends to feed them peanuts helps. Some of them have become so tame...............I say leave our squirrels alone. ;) 02

Lovely pictures, I like squirrels too, even if they do take the acorns from my oak trees and by forgetting where they have hidden them I routinely find thirty or so oak saplings every few years.

Lovely picture of your little boy DR.

Thanks for that Kathy, at the risk of bangin' on..
We moved from Sheffield to Bamford near Rochdale for a while.
The company for which I worked at the time paid for first class rail travel for the family.
So my wife, myself and the three kids were sitting on the train one morning with the business "suits."
The squirrel was in a small wicker shopping basket with a plastic elasticated cover, the type where the cover was split to let the rigid handle pass through. My wife held it on her lap. About fifteen minutes into the journey, a head popped out through the gap in the cover and had a good look round. An; "It's alright, go back to sleep." brought instant obedience, there were a couple of open mouths on the opposite seat.
