Ssorry, another ID please

We got given this by the mother-in-law a while ago. Not sure what it is or how to care for it, any advice would be really appreciated.

 

No need to apologise James most of us on here love a good guess the plant yours appears to be a Haworthia of some kind and I confess I have absolutely no idea how to care for it however might I suggest this as a good starting point

I'd also consider re-potting it as a priority, does that pot have drainage holes?

 

Yeah a pot in a pot, weve been keeping it alive by misting it not watering into the baase itself

 

I thought it was an Aloe, does anyone know if they're the same family?

 

Both Aloe and Haworthia are in Asphodelaceae.

Yes I think I was wrong on this one I popped back after spotting the same plant as the OP's in the shop window of a local florist under a sign saying Aloes

 

I've always known it as aloe varigata
