I've always made my own timber slatted greenhouse staging, but need some more and spotted these Palram galvanised metal units reduced at Wilkos online http://www.wilko.com/greenhouses/steel-work-bench/invt/0320738 and as there's £5 off £50 or more online spend at the moment and 4.25% TotalCashBack they would work out at just over £25 each if I were to buy 2. A quick pricing up of preserved timber in Wickes came to about the same amount and that didn't include for fixings. I wondered about dismantling then (keeping bolts greased) when everything gets planted out enabling some toms to be grown in pots on the floor.

They are £49.99 each on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Palram-Stee...8&qid=1373286430&sr=1-1&keywords=palram+bench

I'd go for the metal ones - you could always drill some holes into the flat surfaces for drainage if needed; if you do drill them, a tin of silver Hammerite and a cotton bud is your friend - just dip and run round the inside of the hole to seal the metal :)
