    Hi,

I've got a standard in my garden (shrub grafted on a 4ft root stock).

Can any name it and also, could I train it horizontally along a trellis by tying it back against the North facing garden wall?

    Thanks for any help.

Hi Dave, that looks like a salix to me, however i have normally seen them grown as standards. Someone in here will be able to tell you whether you can train it horizontally or not

It's probably best left as a standard, get something else to grow on the trellis. It may be possible to train it by pruning out most of the branches, leaving only the ones you want to train but only if you really don't want it as it is.

    It is Salix integra.
