I have some Stargazer lilies in my border which have been wonderful this summer.
Trouble is, I didn't realise they grew so tall and didn't look very nice staked up.
Can I move bulbs to back of border, and if so when is the best time to do it.
Also any special compost or treatment they should have.

I think you can move them anytime during the dormant season, think I'd do it as soon as the foliage has died down.
Could try planting with a bit of sharp sand around the bulbs if the ground gets a bit wet or heavy in the winter.

Yes - after the leaves have turned brown and the stem dried out. Hope you don't get lily beetle - I am becoming a daily executioner of the ******* pest

Thanks again, the leaves are still lovely and green and very healthy looking so I will leave until they go brown.
Never heard of Lily beetle Fran so I looked it up on internet to see what it looked like. Nasty red little thing which I have never seen before. There was a Map showing where it had been reported and Scotland appeared to be clear. Hope it continues that way.
