Is there anything so entertaining as watching a queue of starlings line up for their bath, its a full time job keeping any water in the bath.

They spend all afternoon queuing up to get into the waterfall of my pond, consiquence is I need to top up the pond on a regular basis as its surprising how much water they can shift in a day.

Later in the summer the flocks of them will move into my apple trees to dry out.
So no apples again this year.:D

Pam, I hope you don't mind me telling a little story from today.

A different bird, but we were having lunch with the Manager of an Hotel here in the hills on the verandah discussing the display of my artwork when a Swallow swooped down in front of us and flew straight into the plate glass window of the main dining room, shook itself and off it went and flew straight into the plate glass window of the bar area where it stunned itself and fell to the ground. The Manager jumped up from her seat as did we and ran to the bird as did a waiter and waitress who had seen the incident from inside. The Manager gently picked the bird up and carried it to our table where she coo-ed and cuddled it in her hand. The waiter, waitress, my husband and myself all watched and the little bird came to and looked around at all of us. The Manager opened her hand and the little bird flew off into the gardens as we all cheered.:yess:
