Finally won the battle with an old hebe and a big bramble! A real 'you DARE defy man!?!' moment!

That was the last of the mature shrubs in the front garden that were there when I moved in. A nice clean slate! I hope to upload some photos soon!

The plot is about 20' wide and 8' deep, with 2 beds - front one about 6' deep, back one raised about 2'deep. It's east facing so gets sun from dawn til about midday, with the next door porch providing a shady corner. The soil appears reasonably good - everything that was in it was growing well.

I've planted a couple each of pseudopanax lessonii and euphobia in the corners of the front bed to provide a 'backdrop' and I also have put 2 small tree poenies alongside. I've filled the front with some bedding plants - busy lizzies, violas and stocks - and put some dahlias and tigridia in too.

My dearly beloved has donated 3 roses which I'm planning to put in the back bed and then plan around them. Maybe a small acer (be looking for suggestions later!) for the shady corner. Eventually a seat under my front window so I can sit and enjoy the view in my lovely garden whilst I eat my brekkie before work!   (maybe not at 04:30 though!)

Then it's onto the back garden!!

Well, hopefully there's a picture below! It's not of the garden, but of the view from my upstairs window, above the garden! The rhododendron in the bottom of the pic is all that prevents me seeing this from the garden - but it's in the garden opposite!

    Yes - I'm really chuffed!! :D :D :D

Lots of careful waiting now! I had a couple of weeks to get it kick started as I had my wisdom teeth out [IMG] so now it's back to fitting it in between shifts! No discernable loss of wisdom either!! [IMG]
