    Hi all,

Continuing from my post last summer, I'm having similar problems again this year.

Grass seems to be taking an age to grow, takes about 2 weeks to put on 1cm of growth and it can go more than a month without being cut. When it does grow it goes to seed very quickly, and if I cut it anything below 27mm on the lawnmower it goes yellow and dry within 6 hours after cutting. If I cut on 27mm it seems to survive just about, but surely I should be able to cut lower than this.

Have been watering it during the long dry periods we've had, but doesn't seem to make a hint of difference, also put feed on but again hasn't done much.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

P.S In South Yorkshire, UK, think i've put that in my profile now tho

Mike, I bought some turf from B&Q that sounds very much like your grass. I've only got one strip of it about 2ft wide and 4ft long. The tips of the grass always seem to yellow and the rest of the blade has gone a very dark green. There are seed heads all over it even though I mow it at least once a week.

The only thing I can think of is that I laid it where a shed base used to stand and there was a large amount of sharp sand mixed in with the top soil.
