I just bought one and awaiting delivery tomorrow. I think that they are more cost effective in teh long term. A good metal BBQ qould cost in excess of £100 and would not last as long as a masonry. As soon as it's up I will post a picture! :thumb:

    Hi s-m!

I live in a country where the stone or masonry BBQ is the norm. However, we have just gone through a renovation of our kitchen patio and are not having the norm put there for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they can be large and cumbersome looking (certainly here where some have sinks and all sorts attached to them) and secondly, and more importantly, they tend to be too large when cooking for only two or four persons, ie, gobbling up lots of charcoal!

I'm not saying it's an option for you, but we are having a granite counter fitted this weekend on which we will put a cheap and cheerful small cast iron legless grill (c£40) on it. This can be removed should we wish to use the counterspace for other things, ie, a bar, a buffet, a potting shelf .... whatever takes your fancy! We also have an electric stone grill and this can be used on that surface.

I will post a photo when it's all in place.

Got it from Ebay, seller has shown good communications so far, paid lot less than RRP too :D I think Lady of Leisure has a point regarding size, but mines not too cumbersome and also its size might be irrelevant depending on the size of your garden and how much use you make of it.
