Got a goodly amount of Cabbages just starting to heart up, only 3 bolted in the end.

Not much room in the freezer, don't much care for Sauerkraut so was thinking of different ways of storing.

Did I dream it, or did folk used to clamp them in the same way as potatoes ?

Don't have John Seymours book on Self Sufficiency anymore, i'm sure he would have had a way.

I do have a Pillbox at my disposal, thinking about hanging them in there.

Anyone else store the things ?:parsnip:

I can't find my copy of John Seymour so I can't tell you what he says but, you said you don't like sauerkraut: have you tried just fermenting the cabbage by chopping it up and pounding it with salt to release the juice to preserve it?

Maybe that's the only way to make it...Well, I like it anyway.

Been sorting out the pill box in preparation this evening, ran out of light, but I recon 2 days work to get it mouse/rat proof, ship shape and tickety boo:thumb:
