Early this evening I was having a wander around the garden after tea, the far end of the garden was bathed in lovely warm sunshine; I saw a couple of large dragonflies fly over; as I have been doing all summer, but then I noticed the hedge in the sun was full of them basking in the warmth - I counted about 15 in total, but the females being brown were harder to see so there could have been more. Very surreal, managed to get a few decent photos though as they even let me get within inches of them :dbgrtmb:

Fantastic. I love dragon flies (and their various close relatives in cobalt blue and metalic green).

Sometimes we are lucky enough to have one or two hunting over my garden, taking mozzies perhaps? I'm not sure if they go for mozzies but their aerial acrobatics are so impressive to watch.

Well no sign of the 'swarm' of dragonflies tonight, but I did find another different lone dragonfly in the same area which was also photogenic :snork:

What camera are you using Bilbo? The second photo of the latest batch is my favourite!

Thanks Mum; it's a nice compact digital, an Olympus sp350, I've had it for about 6 or 7 years now and never found a fault with it. For a non-SLR camera it has quite a fast shutter speed and is 8.2mp..:)
