Where can I get a bale of straw, and by that I mean just one bale, two at the most
I dont want a lorry load and I dont want one of those massive round things you see in fields these day.

Pet suppliers might sell it in smaller quantities, although charging more than you pay for a bale. I would help but a) miles away and b) I only get one bale at a time for the chickens.

pete; local farm shops especially ones dealing with horse supplies are your best bet.

    Ok thanks for the replies.

It seems to be everywhere right now but difficult to know where to buy it.

You don't see many small bales of straw these days but any farm that has them would sell you a couple I'd say Pete .

I'm sure they would Gogs, but its finding one.
You used to see the odd sign up, but not so these days.

And most horsey people seem to have gone over to using wood chips for some reason.

Just wonder what they do with it nowdays.

I to needed some barley straw for the pond and to double up as a bed to the strawberry patch.
I noticed the pet supplies have it but it tends to be chopped for use as bedding for our smaller friends.
I ended up asking our local egg supplier who we have known for years and has a small farm and grows Barley.
    Perfect
Next wednesday there will be a large bag of straw waiting when we go for the usual egg pickup.
Sorted... but it was not easy.
You need a freindly farmer Pete.. good luck
