    Hey Rob,

A mower with a rear roller will do the job for you.

It pushes the blades of grass under the roller in one direction.

A cylinder mower with a roller is even better as a rotary mower with a roller will cause the grass to go round in circles, and can show like swirls in the grass.

If the grass is only 8 weeks old, is it really time to think about getting the picture perfect stripes just yet?

Hi Robgil. The stripes are formed when the grass blades are swept or rolled in one direction.
Cut one way on the outward cut ,and the opposite way on the inward cut. a cylinder mower with front cutters and rear roller gives a much better effect than a rotary with a roller.. As regarding when to cut ,i would wait till the grass is @ 5-6 inchs. for the first cut i would only trim to 3 inchs or so. if you cut the lawn too short it will rip out the root system or damage the root system. personally i use a Qualcast Concorde 32. it is light weight
and very easy to operate.. I am not on commission :WINK1:.
