    Bet that was an invigorating walk, Strongy .... and I bet that water is icy cold, too!

    That has to be up near the top of my favourite places!...many fond memories of my family trudging up the Light house and hours just sitting and one mad moment scaling the Pulpit rock:D

    I went birding mainly, specifically to see summer visitors arriving and saw absolutely nothing.:(
    They are late or I am too early.:scratch::D

    I have never seen surfers there before and that water was cooooold!!

    Pal, did you jump off Pulpit Rock? The currents there are incredibly strong (as you probably know).

    hi Penny, I bet they didn't.:D

    The Isle of Portland is an interesting place, it protrudes 5 miles out into the English Channel south of Weymouth where I live joined by a causeway. It is solid Limestone and has many quarries. St Pauls Cathederal and other buildings in London were built from the stone there and some in the States.:)

    So its Portland Stone from which we get, Ordinary Portland Cement.

    It looks a wild place strongy.

    I lived on Portland for 6 months in rented before buying our first house here. Even in summer you walked at a 45 degree angle because of the wind.:D

    Goodness me Strongy!...me swimming in the sea 'aint never going to happen mate...too blinkin deep for a landlubber:D
    Me and my Bro' climbed up in the early '70's with the future Mrs Pal screaming her head off at me to get down!......Yep, we were single ...:p...and a week together staying in a flat at the Chemist called'Robinsons'I think...on the one way system,Wareham Rd. Is the Chemist still there?
