Hi everyone. I had to move a large established Camellia Japonica which struggled and dropped most of its leaves. Unfortunately had no choice but move it so I was expecting some issues. This was around May this year. It seems to be hanging in there and starting to grow new shoots but I think it now need a hard prune which I’ve never done before. Any advice? It flowers twice a year (summer and late autumn/winter) so it’s quite unusual and difficult to pick best times to tackle this. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you prune it now you will lose flowers but it probably doesn't have many buds, it does look unhappy.
Probably would have been better to have pruned it hard back just before moving it.
I think I'd leave it until spring now.

I do any pruning on mine after flowering in spring, which gives it time to make new growth during the summer.
