After Swanage and Corfe, Studland was next for a walk yesterday.
'Cold and bracing' describes it very well!!
    View towards Old Harry Rocks.

      Fantastic Strongy:dbgrtmb:

In the low cliff there, you can see the KT boundary, the Unconformity between the Cretaceous/Tertiary periods There is a 25mm band between the 2 strata that is the debris from the global forrest fires following the Asteroid impact. Contains irridium, indicating the Earth's crust was pierced by the impact.

I've heard its good for catching Razor Clams there at very low tide too.

Went down there today with a view to catch some Spoots, but couldn't see any burrows

Had a closer look at the KT Boundary.

That's it, the moment in time that the asteroid hit, somewhere around the Gulf of Mexico.

The world's forests caught fire and the sky went dark for about 4 years.

          Nothing big survived that.

Don't know if you can make out from the pic, but the darker layer has got flints in it, which would have been eroded out of the limestone below (The limestone would have been uplifted and weathered before the younger rock were deposited on top of it)

The flints above are all shattered, not sure if that's from the fires or the shock wave, but it wouldn't have been a good day to be on the planet :yikes:

There are three beaches there, Knoll, Middle and South, Knoll is the one with the NT café and large car park.
Are you at the end of a Jurassic coast tour?

Aah, i'd parked up next to the pub and walked down a path next to a stream.

End of the Cretaceous more like :) Nothing Jurassic there.
