Some of you may remember I posted some pics of my plant of echium fastuosum when it flowered the other month. I went to Ness Botanic Garden in the Wirral today. It started raining as soon as I got there but I wanted to see their plants of Echium webbii. I have one plant in a big pot but no flowers and I have an admission to make - last year I found a few seeds in the rubbish that was left before it got cleared away, after they had obviously collected seed. I have 8 seedlings now. I had seen what I thought was Echium webbii and was disappointed.
However what I saw today makes me realise I have a real gem in my garden.

I love those - and definitely wonderful en mass. I can see myself having to try seeds from that too.
My fastuosum aren't up yet but fingers are crossed. The vulgare are in full flower now and looking quite good.

Even one or two would be lovely but that large clump is stunning!

Really good plant Geoff, wish I could grow them like that, one frosty night last winter killed all the flowers on mine.
You must be milder up that way.
