Here's a pic of some rose cuttings I managed to root from last year; I've just potted them up in their own pots. They were from a bunch of flowers I bought my wife, she loves yellow roses and thats what these were, small flowered ones, like a 'patio' rose.

I had about a dozen and got four so I'm happy as I believe roses from bunches of flowers don't generally make ideal cuttings as they're not always fresh???

Well done, wish I could do that

I have only started gardening this year Apr, I missed out a lot as I had a Welsh Uncle who was a head gardener in a private garden

When we were kids, he used to tell my Dad with us young uns listening on
Dieu dieu you do not buy roses man, you just do this
Where he produced his bill hook shaped knife cut some two foot lengths chopped a bit here and there and said just stick them in the ground

We always came home from Wales each year with a box full of plants and stuff, us kids with several Cacti in little pots, Lots of enthusiasm
AND YES NOTHING EVER grew on

Uncle was on BBC Gardeners world or whatever it was in the 70's showing the Beeb around the owners gardens, hot houses and exotics
Alas now I need him he has long gone to the garden in the sky :-(

So well done on your achievement

            Jack McH

...Update.....well after the incredibly mild winter we've had (so far!! :D), my little roses are still in full leaf and are starting to produce suckers around the base......., looks like they're going to make nice little multi-stemmed bush roses
