Hello, would like advice as to whether planting Sumach 'tree of heaven' say 6' from my house is likely to do any damage structurally. I am aware of the suckering habit of this tree but have a neighbour who panicks if anything is near her house. Any advice would be very welcome. Dee

Most of the Rhus family are shallow rooted & send out suckers. If you're going to put it 6' from the house then you will need to keep it in check.
You can cut the whole thing back in Feb/March ,cutting the stems 1' from the ground. It'll stay quite small & compact & you'll get loads of new foliage annually.
Either mow over,or cut the tops off any unwanted suckers.
