To add to Youngdaisydee's answer, Paul - well this is kind of hard to explain, but the seed part is kind of underneath the yellow tubey bits that are in the sunflower's centre (the bit that is left when the petals fall off). If you delve about a bit in the middle bit you should find one seed per "tubey bit". I daresay the tubey bits have a proper name... If you can't see any seeds then in the words of the budweiser ad, it's probably not ready yet [IMG] There are loads of seeds per head so I shall be taking my spare ones home to my mum (don't get many birds in my garden no matter what delicacies I put out for them) to hang up for the birds to eat.

LOL, well if the birds don't bother I expect the squirrels'll like them! (mum and dad get loads of squirrels in their garden) - or maybe they'll bury them (the squirrels will bury the seeds i mean... :D )and forget where they put them, then the woods will be bizarrely full of sunflowers next summer :D

You can gather the seeds and keep some back for planting next year, then spreasd the others on a baking tray and cook in the over for several hours on a low gas, when cool pop them in air tight tins, and sprinkle on your cereal or use as snacks, very good for you. Buzzing around!
