This is the second sunflower that has gone like this in the same part of the garden. I put the first in the compost bin and bought a replacement with 3 nice looking open flowers from the garden centre. After a couple of weeks the flowers are all tightly scrunched up just like the previous one. It gets plenty of sun apart from being in the shadow of a tree for a couple of hours around midday. I presume it doesn't like the soil, but other plants around it are doing fine.
    Any ideas please.

I assume the flowers are dying and as it looks like the multi headed type you need to wait for more to grow and open.

Best to grow your own sunflowers from seed, IMO.

I'm no expert but is it a viral mutation? I can't believe it's due to where they are growing.....:noidea:
