Could someone help my son with his sunflower he went on a school trip today and planted a sunflower seed but on the way home he sat on it. I told him i would ask on here for advice on what to do with it now, he was so upset had to post this to tell him it will be ok so what do i do with it now please tell me. He will be over the moon to know that it will be alright and how long will it have to be in the pot that it came with.

Is the seed actually broken/split? If not just replant it, if it is broken get another one (check neighbours bird feeders [IMG] )

    Cheers MIKE

They do benefit from a drop of water now and then, keep the compost damp/moist but not soaking wet same as you would for most plants.

Slugs love them so wait till it's quite a lot bigger yet. You might need to repot it into a bigger pot once it gets a bit bigger and before you put it in the garden. As it's in a peat pot though, you don't need to take that pot off, just get a bigger plastic pot and pot the whole thing in that with some new compost.

Sunshine,I would make sure that if you have it on a window sill to make sure you keep turning the pot because it will always grow towards the light. As it looks now you need to place it in the window as it is and then it should start leaning to the right etc.Good Luck with it

Protect it from slugs even when it's bigger. I had some 2' tall ones munched half way up the stem. Would be very disappoinying if it got eaten!

Hi Sunshine.Yes put it out somewhere where it will get lots of sun.You will need one of those bamboo canes or a wooden pole and gently tie the stem of the sunflower to it.If you have it windy in your garden then put it somewhere sheltered. It looks like it needs feeding,so some fertiliser wouldn't go amiss.Good luck
