This weather is enough to make anyone think about holidays.Anyone going anywhere nice this yr?Me and Mr.fiz didn`t get anywhere last yr but young fiz had a week at a Blue Dolphin centre with my sister-in-law and her kids. They had a great time and when they got back she immediately booked up for two weeks in Sept.`07.Ever since, young fiz keeps saying to me,"Are you two going anywhere? No?Well it must be me then.""Oh,poor me."i say.All the time thinking,Great!,two weeks peace,no kids. That`ll do me, even if me and Mr.fiz don`t get.BUT,it get`s better...Last night a friend called asking do we three fancy going away for a fortnight,to Turkey in Sept, with him and his missus? What date?i said.OH Yes!Same dates as young fiz`s booked for, all be it one day.I broke the news to him this morning when he got back from his Fathers. His response..."YOU JAMMY *^$)&£" :D :D :D

Marge you need a motorcaravan - kinda like taking your home with you - and your dog can do as little or as much as she likes. Touring in the UK means there is aways a vet close by. I'm already itching to get away on my first trip this year- complete with Cavalier.

Elaine sorry to hear that your holiday dates are the same as you son's. But what the heck a trip to Turkey - nice [IMG]

Have been trying to talk tother half into doing that for years Fran  I love the ides!
Elaine - thanks for asking, she has had cancer for 4 yrs and was given only 1 month to 1 year! Shes very thin but just keeps going - short walks, up and down the stairs, up the garden and all else is ok - she'll be 13 next month so would be doing well despite the cancer! [IMG]
es - youngest is coming home permanently until she decides what to do with herself!!

Elaine - they are mainly planned with fluidity in respect of the weather, but not all. My van is not named "Freedom" for nothing :D

Marge your just gonna have to think of a little blackmail for your t'other half. Motorhomes are expensive but they hold their value so second hand is better than the car market. Tell you what, I'll send you post cards when I go touring the coast of scotland in late spring, complete with dog :D

Not sure where we are going for our hols this year yet. We want to update our caravan as it's very old but it's lovely inside. We did have a new one but we swopped it for a motorhome, unforunatly we didn;t like it as much as the caravan so we sold it and bought a seconhand caravan.

We have been caravaning for years and love it, it's so nice waking up in the morning and looking out on trees or sea. We like going to devon and cornwall, but would like to visit jersey, (Ile of wight can't spell it sorry), and Ile of man. which we haven't seen yet.
We also camp in derbyshire such a lovely place.

Years ago we hired a tent to see if we would like camping and we really took to it, then we bought our first caravan and went to france. My late brother used to say, it's not a holiday because you have to cook and clean, I couldn't make him understand that it was a joy to cook and we made friends with lots of people on the site. The children flew the nest years ago, we have our meals out now.

For a change sometimes we have package hols abroad
but. but it still can't compare with camping.

Trouble with caravanning is you cannot just zoom off when you feel like it - not if you want a decent site and are stuck with school holidays. Last year we started to use the little CLs ( mainly farm sites for those not in the Caravan Club) Even those have got booked up this year and I think the big sites got booked up soon after the Caravan Club opened up the booking this year. One farmer told me that the number of CLs are going down but the number of members is going up dramatically.
Last year when i was recovering from my heart op we went caravanning in May just before I returned to work. It was great outside of school holidays. Lovely weather, no crowds and the sites were only half full - we went to South Pembrokeshire incidentally. This year are going back to Pembrokeshire, somewhere West of Haverfordwest but will have to go during the school holidays......how many years is it to retirement???
What puts me off campervans, apart from the cost is that they are a bit unmanouverable and slow. I am used to driving biggish vehicles but find I can move faster with a car and a van. I have always wondered about how they level the things in two directions. The van is dead easy to set up, ever since I bought a Motor mover.
