Felt I would like to share this with you. You never know when you may need it.

I recently had a problem whereby I was parked in Tescos car park in the loading/waiting area and received a ticket issued by the Private Car Parking Company. Fine of £40 if paid within 14 days or £70 thereafter!!
I strongly believed that I was not parked illegally and was determined I was not going to pay. I found a site on the internet who help with legal problems and as soon as I told them it was a supermarket car park they confirmed I was to pay nothing - ignore their letters and threats - ignore any debt collection letters and if it got too much they would deal with it for me, free of charge.
They told me that these private companies employed by Supermarkets etc. are in fact acting illegally and they are just there to frighten you and make a fortune.
    Worked for me anyway.

Very useful to know. I do know that supermarkets cannot enforce the "mother and child" parking spaces, only the disabled spaces.

Not surprised it was Tescos though...

our local aldi have a 2 hour parking limit in their car park and if you go over that 2hr limit, you get a fine notice in the post....most of ''offending'' people pay up thinking they were in the wrong.

tried the site...can't get anywhere on it.

It worked yesterday Andy - but you're right it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere - they must have a problem with the site.

But the main thing to know is that these private car parking Companies cannot fine you for parking. NEVER pay the fine.

I've never heard of this, as far as I'm concerned the only people that can fine you are the Law of the Land.
    Anyone else can get stuffed.

Why did you park in the loading/waiting area - its there for a reason?

Tesco's are allowing you to park on their land - I see no reason why they shouldn't charge if you go beyond the rules

Unless like our Waitrose and local Asda's car park - the land is actually owned by the Council and you are parking on council land. That's why there is a charge for a decent amount of time to do shopping in the store, and get a refund of 50p or whatever the refundable amount is. Otherwise the council can ticket you and it is indeed enforceable.
