This is coming up so quickly and in so many places in my shady border that it must be a weed - but what is it?! I've looked at the Know Your Weeds photos and can't seem to match it up there.

    Thanks

    Yes it's a weed
Ziggy will come up with the actual id, but definitely a weed - I don't even consider it a flower in the wrong place, it's just a pain.

Been doing a bit of research (i.e. Googling loads of photos) and I think it could be some kind of willowherb. This would make sense as I did have this in the garden last year and let some of it stay because I thought it was quite pretty. As you say, Gill, the rain seems to have encouraged these in the last few days. What with these the all the ground ivy I pulled up the other day I'm being kept busy!

Sorry, I looked at this yesterday, my first thoughts were Hairy Willow Herb, but I didn't get around to looking it up on account of doing Dad stuff.

They're an inoffensive sort of weed- not pretty enough to bother keeping but not too difficult to pull up either.
