I always plant 2 Sweet pea seeds in each pot , and usually get 90% germination. When they have grown large enough to pinch out above the third leaf set , I remove the smaller plant . I don't split them as I have more than enough.
Now if I leave two plants in each pot and plant them out like that early April , will I have a lovely 6 foot double plant or a 3 foot stunted one , as they compete for the same food and root space

    TIA

I don't know the answer but will be interested to hear others' views. I might just try it myself with a few in a largish pot to scramble up a trellis and see what happens,

I did this once for myself thinking I would get twice the number of flowers. Maybe other factors had an influence but plants, and flower numbers, were not great. One plant per pot for me but there are some experts on this forum so I will watch their posts with interest

They would compete for resources and be disappointing, by comparison to plants grown as single-cordons. If you are going to plant them out to clamber up a net or somesuch it may not make much difference.

I germinate the seeds first and then plant one-per-pot - saves having pots with nothing in where the seed fails to germinate, and "wasting" a seed where a plant is thinned.
